Diverse Active Living Day Service is an adult day care and wellbeing provider serving Manchester, Trafford, and Greater Manchester — established in 2016 by Alison Davies and Scott Shelmerdine. JW Digital built an accessible, trust-forward website serving families and carers seeking day care for adults with dementia, learning disabilities, brain injuries, and additional support needs.

Diverse Active Living Day Service has provided person-centred adult day care and wellbeing support across Manchester and Trafford since 2016.
The service provides structured day care for adults with dementia, learning disabilities, brain injuries, and additional support needs — Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm — with optional extra relief support, community outings, transport, and meals. The organisation was founded by Alison Davies and Scott Shelmerdine and has been operating for nearly a decade.
The website needed to serve families and carers making one of the most emotionally significant care decisions they will face. Trust, clarity, and compassion were the defining requirements — above any commercial consideration.
The audience for this website — families and carers of adults with complex needs — are making decisions under significant emotional pressure. A website that feels clinical, confusing, or impersonal would immediately undermine trust.
The content needed to explain a complex range of services (dementia care, learning disability support, brain injury rehabilitation support, community-based activities) in a way that felt approachable and human, without glossing over the seriousness of the care provided.
Accessibility was also a genuine priority: some users accessing the site may themselves have accessibility needs, and the site needed to work clearly across all devices and for users of varying digital confidence.
We designed a website with a calm, supportive visual approach — prioritising clarity and reassurance over visual complexity. Service types are presented in plain language with enough detail to build confidence in the care quality, without overwhelming visitors.
The enquiry pathway is straightforward: clearly visible contact options for families wanting to discuss care options, with no unnecessary barriers between the visitor and the organisation.
Testimonials from multiple families were integrated throughout to provide peer reassurance — one of the most significant trust signals in a care context. The site's accessibility was a priority at both design and development level.
Understood the care environment, the emotional context of the audience, and the level of clarity needed for a complex service offering.
Created a calm, accessible layout with compassionate tone, clear service hierarchy, and strong family-focused trust signals.
Built with accessibility best practices, responsive design, local SEO, and simple contact pathways throughout.
Delivered a website that gives families confidence in the care they are considering for their loved one.
“Absolutely brilliant! So helpful and understood exactly what I was looking for. Would 100% recommend John to any business looking to expand or improve their current media. We have seen a significant increase in numbers since the website for the business was improved. John has made it much easier for our customer base to reach us and understand the concept of the day service. Thank you!”
